Cooperative Promotion Department and Chulalongkorn University Advance Educational Opportunities for the Sustainable Future of Thailand’s Dairy Farming Profession

Cooperative Promotion Department and Chulalongkorn University Advance Educational Opportunities for the Sustainable Future of Thailand’s Dairy Farming Profession The Cooperative Promotion Department (CPD), in collaboration with Chulalongkorn University, has advanced educational opportunities to support the sustainable development of Thailand’s dairy farming profession through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on undergraduate education for children and grandchildren of dairy cooperative members. The signing ceremony was held on 20 January 2026 at the Conference Room, 3rd Floor, Central Training Building, Office of Cooperative Development and Technology Transfer, Bangkok. The MOU was jointly signed by Mr. Niran Moolthida, Director-General of the Cooperative Promotion Department, and Professor Dr. Kaywalee Chatdarong, D.V.M., Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University, on behalf of the University. The collaboration reflects the role of leading higher education institutions in creating educational pathways that are directly linked to real professions and national workforce development. This initiative is a nationwide collaboration spanning three academic years (2026–2028) and involves six partner universities: Chulalongkorn University, Khon Kaen University, Mahasarakham University, Maejo University, Kasetsart University Kamphaeng Saen Campus, and Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya. Under the program, a total of 141 scholarships, with a combined budget of over 30 million baht, will be awarded to provide access to higher education for youth from dairy cooperative families. The scholarships support studies in fields related to dairy farming and livestock development, with the goal of strengthening the profession in a systematic and sustainable manner. The collaboration forms part of the Educational Cooperation Project to Sustain the Royal Bestowed Profession, which aims to enhance the long-term stability of dairy farming—an occupation deeply rooted in Thai society—while upgrading knowledge, technology, and skills of the younger generation across the dairy industry value chain. In addition, the project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 4: Quality Education (Targets 4.3, 4.4)SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth (Target 8.3)SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (Target 9.2) Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University: A Continuing CommitmentThe Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University, has continuously supported this initiative since the 2020 academic year, admitting 10 students per year through the TCAS Round 2 (Quota) system. To date, a total of 30 students have been enrolled under the program, demonstrating the Faculty’s strong commitment to leveraging education as a driving force for the sustainable development of Thailand’s agricultural and livestock sectors. Sustainable development begins with expanding educational opportunities for the younger generation—and quality education is the foundation of a secure and resilient profession. #CooperativePromotionDepartment#ChulalongkornUniversity#FacultyOfVeterinaryScience#DairyCooperatives#Scholarships#RoyalBestowedProfession#EducationForSustainability#SDGs
